After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Now finished "The Surgeon's Mate" by Patrick O'Brian and moved on to "The Ionian Mission" by the same author.

I study historical and literary analyses of early Christianity from a non-theological point of view. The books that I read are written by top scholars in the field including Larry Hurtado who is now a professor at the University of Edinburgh. Currently reading "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" by Paula Fredricksen.

I use to enjoy this as well (substitute bourbon for port), but time no longer permits such a luxury. Somehow, that doesn't prevent me from buying more books though. Thank the powers that be for digital editions or my to-read stack would require a room unto itself.

I rarely read fiction, but I just finished _Silence_, a novel by Shusaku Endo about a couple of Jesuit priests in early-modern Japan who face the question of whether or not to apostatize. Not exactly beach reading, but a real page-turner nonetheless.

Absolutely, Pitch! A venerable ancient ruby port - along with the necessary dose of allopurinol.
