Steak pie, roast potato's (and some "healthy stuff") cooked by son -in -law (daughter working late).
An Oz. New South Wales Pinot Noir - tasty but nothing whatsoever like a French Burgundy (and not worth posting in the Wine thread).
Son's 31st B'day on Thursday. I've already mentioned his wine "repatriation" gift. He is taking a couple of week's vacation (on a "use it or lose it" basis). No chance of trips, so he said he's be walking the dog and improving his cooking skills.
The missus and I were planning on an 'extravagant' order from Fine Foods Ltd. next week, so we thought we's double up on the order and give half to him and his missus. I've just run this through -
Vannamei White Prawns, Peeled/Deveined, Frozen,1kg 16/20
1 £19.95
28 Day Hereford Fillet Steaks, Fresh, 4 x +/-200g
1 £64.95
Whole Dover Sole, Fresh, 2 x 500/600g
2 £104.00
The last time he tried this steak, he said it was the best he'd tasted, so we should all have a good time next weekend!
Fillet steak is ridiculously cheap here. The missus usually just buys the whole tenderloin cuts it into portions and freezes it. So that's what we'll be having tonight with a salad I imagine as it's pretty hot today.
I've got a Smoked Ham Hough on a slow simmer at the moment to make stock for Lentil Soup tomorrow, later tonight an old favourite of mine will be Birds Eye Haddock Fish Fingers and Chips with Bread and Butter.
Soup (again)!
