Fish for dinner tonight.
Went to a different fishmonger than normal and he had super large fillets of merluza. So large I had to cut them in half for bagging up individual servings to put in the freezer. Was in a rush so didn't have time to have a good nosey but I did notice he had a decent variety of frozen shellfish and other things including squid and octopus. I'll be back.....
The Ladies are having their usual diet food so today I'm having Lamb an Guinness stew with Cheesy Doughballs, I roasted the bone in stewing lamb along with whole baby shallots, carrots and garlic for half an hour then added to the slow cooker along with stock and Guinness, thyme, tomato puree, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and bay leaves, this should take about 7 hours then finish off cooking the cheesy doughballs in the sauce.
Very nice Ally...not sure if I have the patience to make that dish.
The missus got the butcher to mince some good quality beef yesterday. She made some beef burgers last night which were very tasty and today I'll use the rest of the mince to make Bolognese sauce. Might have spag bol tonight, if not I'll freeze it.
Daughter doing a Chinese meal - chicken satay, fried rice, beef with black bean sauce, noodles; so an idle day!
They're all having cod in a tomato base Provençal sauce; didn't fancy it, so, pork pie, Camembert and paté.

I'd have yours for starters and theirs for the main Jim.Having said that although I like how it tastes I can't stand the smell of Camembert.
Tonight we're having pasta. I'll be having it with some of the Bolognese sauce I made the other day and which the wife doesn't like. So she can sort herself out....probably heated up Extra Virgin infused with garlic. They do produce some excellent parmesan cheese here which will be grated as and when needed. I personally think pasta is overrated but don't tell the Italians that.![]()
